Hello, I keep on watching your video and sort of I am wondering in here if the RICE HULL can be use as a sole form of substrate. This is also an agricultural waste that seems to be more nutritional than RICE STRAW. If I am not mistaken I can say it can be of good use ( rice hull ) alone for a very good substrate. Please let me know if this idea is useful. Thank you.

Very interesting. Two or three times you say that the mushrooms are "cooking in their own liquid" - but of course, they're also cooking in the cup of water that you put in the pan. Perhaps one could dry fry the mushrooms first, which would amount to them cooking in their own juice, and then adding oil. Either way, it has never occurred to me that it would be reasonable to cook mushrooms in water first - I too felt it would make the them slimy and unpleasant so I am definitely going to give this method a go! Love your videos - I am a novice grower of blue oyster mushrooms - my first ever batch has mycelium spreading through it and hoping that it will literally bear fruit before long!

What happens if other, non-edible mushrooms start growing in the same bed? I ask this because my usual veggie beds have a few inky cap mushrooms here and there. Would that mean the edible mushrooms are contaminated? Would they still be good to consume, if they grow alongside non-edible varieties?

Have you thought about growing morel mushrooms? They are quite popular as well. I've seen them sold in grocery stores as high as $30 per pound
